I recently got a friend to help me start a Deathcore band, and well it isn’t the most easiest thing to do. after the initial.. “I want to make a band, for fun.” part, we decided, well if we’re gonna play anything we need to find more people. We found a drummer, then a 2nd guitarist, and at last bassist. We had our first “practice” not too long ago, although it was more of a hang out session if anything. We talked about music, songs we would like to play, what kind of music we are gonna play, band names, suggestions, how bad the first practice sucked, technical problems, the works. After the first practice, well, I can’t say much.. but we are looking to change our lineup already, but mind me, this is not an easy task. For one, everyone religiously listens to reggae around where I live, so finding someone that plays guitar, and doesn’t play reggae is already tough. Then we need to find someone with a metal approriate guitar.. but unfortunately everyone and thier grandparents have stratocasters, not very metal. THEN we have to cross our fingers that they don’t only play blues/rock/alternative/not metal.. and that usually kills us. I’ve contacted local bands about my problem, but no reply.. wasn’t expecting much anyway. Our band as of now has a screamer (me), guitar, bass, and drummer.
I remember that day I wanted to just have fun, but now we’re (the lead guitarist and me) getting serious into this, to the point where we want to gig and *crosses fingers* get signed. I’ve already laid out some lyrics, but just gotta start meeting up with everyone and trying to make some shit happen. My friend and I are all thinking about how crazy it would be to play at huge tours and gig and be famous.. Hell I would love, and I’m sure everyone would. This is my first blog in awhile so TTFN!

Metalcore, Deathcore, Grindcore, and Hardcore.. if you didn’t cringe just yet then your probably one of the many that enjoy, or don’t totally dispise these genres. It’s pretty crazy how much people don’t like these genres, well mainly talk from youtube but really… I just like how br00tal they sound, and yet some of the lyrics are.. I don’t want to say emo, but you get what I’m saying. It seems as if a lot of the ‘metalheads’ don’t like this type of music because its gay or whatever, but it isn’t all that bad. I personally like Death, heavy, all that kinds of metal, but I have no problem with this ‘core’ stuff coming out, or the fact that they’re beginning to get ever so popular.
When I listen to stuff like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, all that stuff, its like I can sit down and listen to it. With stuff like Emmure, Job For A Cowboy, Parkway Drive, Dispised Icons, and Ion Dissonance, I have the urge to stand up and go crazy. If the Guitar (mainly Ion Dissonance and Dispised Icons.. oh and Beneath The Massacre to name a few) and Drum work doesn’t appeal to you, then you might want to listen to it one more time. If its the lyrics that you don’t like, or maybe the screaming/growling/pig squealing you don’t like then theres not much I can do so you like it. I think its good that this new stuff is
coming out, only because theres so many new bands popping up all over the place and its just different music in general. I know that there was those older ‘core’ bands.. or maybe they were gore grind, but whatever.. I think those are awesome too. Even if you CANNOT understand a word their saying sometimes, I think their trying to paint a picture saying ‘GRRR GET ANGRY.’
Maybe the reason I like it is because I want people to think I’m hardcore? Nah not that. Most metalheads think that ’scene’ kids or just whoever in general listen to ‘core’ music so they look hardcore, and in actuality maybe some do think that way. I guess that goes to show that Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, and all those other Metal bands aren’t as hardcore to today’s society than it was maybe 10-20 years ago. I’m not trying to put do
wn Thrash Metal or the 80’s Metal in any way, because I myself love’em.. but what I’m trying to say is old bands aren’t getting any newer, and its time to move on? Again, I’m not saying that the older bands are dead (well maybe Metallica and their St. Anger [jk]) because Megadeths latest album, United Abominations, was pretty awesome IMO.. and Metallica is coming out with a new album sometime soon.. I guess the moral of my blog is that you really shouldn’t put down something new and hold on to something old, you’ll eventually end up listening to some of these bands later on and possibly say to yourself ‘ why didn’t I like this earlier?!’
And I guess this comes to something else; Don’t let anyone tell you what kind of music you need to listen to. For example, I’m not a big ‘Mainstream’ rock fan, so yeah I ocassionally say ‘dude thats lame.’ but I don’t like to say ‘if you don’t listen to hardcore then I hate you and your life.’ Because I really think everyone has their own style. Another thing is that, in Hawaii (where I live), a lot of people love reggae music. I knew a couple of guys that would call me gay or homo because all they believed in was ‘rasta’ and ‘ganja’, they also believe that ‘hip hop/rap and reggae is all you need’ (two very irritating music genres over a long period of time.) If it wasn’t for people wanting to like something other than the ‘in’ music, then you wouldn’t get Thrash Metal, or any of the ‘cores’ either. You should just listen to what you want, and let others listen to what they want. If people like emo, then hell let them love emo! don’t hate them for it.

Wow I haven’t done anything for the past 10 days give or take, so I guess I’ll start with why I’m not posting much..
for one its because I have that little bloggers disease where you run out of what to talk about,
and two because I’m lazy and school is around so yehhh..
I think some advice people could use when being put to the task in deciphering if someone is actually a girl or a guy.. would be to not say ‘he/she’ around them or when your introducing them to people. This happened to me today during a public and human services core academy class, and I was forced to introduce this GUY that looks a LOT like a girl. I swear, if you just glanced at him then you would be like, is that a chick? but anyway, so I was called and I had to answer what does the person like to do. I responded something like: “she likes to….. (giggles) [I pause] oh my god, I’m sorry (I laugh a little out of embarrassment) but ummm… on the weekends… likes to hang out with her.. oh my god I said it again.. (name) likes to hang out.” So of course I said my dearest apologies and whatnot, then she.. I mean he says: ‘She doesn’t know’ fair enough in my opinion, but seeing that you look like more of a girl than me, can’t really pull that on me can you, but yeah..
I guess I should’ve asked if he was a chick or not, but then again thats pretty rude and whatever anyway, but after all that embarrassment, I guess I got a little funny to tell the guys.

I had a little problem with trying to buy stuff from the zune marketplace. It doesn’t let me purchase and it has an unknown error so I googled a little and everything I clicked on had some sort of “zunes suck, get ipods” or “zunes are ugly and ipods are nicer.” I for one had an ipod nano at one point, then it broke but I got it for like $30 off of a friend, then I bought my 30gb zune off of another friend for $35 (yeah I’m lucky.) I liked both, although I liked the itunes a little more than the zune software. Zune software is nice if anything, but some things are hard to work on it.. namely the infamous songs deleting off your zune when you remove them from the zune library.
Maybe the main reason I’d take a zune is because everyone and their mom has some sort of ipod, and since I like to have some diversity in the world, it fit pretty well. I also liked the look.. something about it makes you go, “woah thats not an ipod is it?” but I got the “woah that’s fat!” with my 30 gig
I like that it has a more bigger screen than your normal ipod, plus you got the radio even if I don’t use it. The wireless thing is a gimmick imo since obviously not a lot of people have zunes so its hard to actually use it. The ipod will reign supreme since Apple is more of a multimedia based company compared to the Microsoft businessy feel. Another thing thats kind of lame is that the Zune doesn’t have a lot of 3rd party products, so your pretty much forced to buy their $30-40 wall charger if you need one, and the fact that not a lot of people have the Zune USB connecter makes it hard to charge it at a friends house.. but whatever it is, I <3 my Zune.

I read about the whole thing about how Twitter was pretty popular and whatnot, but I never really did look into it.. But today I did, and its pretty interesting. Its pretty much blogging… but on a micro scale as they say.. I find it fun to be able to post things with my phone on my twitter, which is also on my myspace so also a plus IMO. It sucks that no one I know knows about twitter at all, but maybe as time goes by they’ll look into it and hopefully I could be tweet’n with them too.
is my twitter, check it out, follow me, whatever, I’ll be happy just as long as your not a stalker of sorts :p

If you were one of those guys that followed the first fable all the way back from the first rumored announcements, you’ll know that fable was awesome sounding. When the game actually came out I was disapointed because they left out a large amount of features like how much the world is affected by your every move. Well in the real game, the world wasn’t so affected by you being really bad or good, or not the way they made it sound. Fable 2 will probably do the same. Although I haven’t looked at an ounce of information on Fable 2, I just don’t feel as if I should be really wanting it. I’m looking towards maybe Fallout 3 or Too Human in the RPG section.

I noticed in Rock Band and Guitar Hero I play with only my index, middle and ring finger, completely leaving out my pinky most of the time. The only time I really use my pinky is when I have to hit green and orange, but even then I sometimes just use my index and ring. I beat expert on Rock Band and I’m stuck on raining blood and one on expert for GH3, but I always wondered how much better I would be if I could play using my pinky. I do try to practice, but as I get into a song, I end up trying to use my pinky and ring to hit the same fret, causing me to screw up and having my fingers all confused. I don’t know anyone that plays with just 3 fingers and is exeptionally good when playing expert… but the funny thing is I use my pinky when I try to play a real guitar….. Strange IMO.

wow.. I was looking at some in-game of the new geometry wars and its amazing. Already the first one was action packed, but this one looks down right ridiculous! Whats cool now is that you can play co-op with up to 3 people and the 6 or something new modes.. I think this game is gonna be the greatest XBL arcade game since the first Geometry Wars!

ehh, looks good to me.

Holy sheesh, if you weren’t amazed by that on ROCK BAND 2 list, then I don’t know.. This is a damn good list IMO, but We’ll have to see how Guitar Hero:World Tour will fare against this. On top of that their gonna release 20 free songs that didn’t fit in the CD AND I think most of the songs from the first Rock Band will be ported over or something. Purely WIN seriously. Just the whole AFI and Panic shit has to go… its okay, but I’d rather not want those songs on, but hell good thing you can make your own setlists.

Ahh I remember back in my Starcraft days I was very addicting to just watching pro games, and I just loved some of the songs they had on their. Ressurection by Chimaira, Wake Me Up by Zebrahead, See Who I Am by Within Temptation (which is really amazing, made me love Within Temptation after that) and a bunch more. Then I seen this song, Shriek of the Vengeance by Galneryus… now I have to say, this is a very epic song IMO. its just the way the whole song comes togeather is crazy.. its got this sweet guitar, vocals (although hes japanese, he does sing it in english) and just the whole song in general. I used to play Geometry Wars to this song (don’t laugh) but hell it got me very far.. I think thats what got my 1.6mil actually. Well I know this wasn’t too informative, but you should really look into those bands/songs I stated if you don’t already know them, thats really good stuff.
